KTGY’s entry to the affordable housing 2020 design competition. Prefabricated modular housing is not a new concept in the architectural world but has been limited by production, transportation, and building inspection obstacles. However, the industry is currently challenging these obstacles. We believe the concept of fabricating a housing module off-site and delivering it to another will become the standard in affordable housing. The site consists of three main neighborhoods: Senior, Family, and a Single/Couple neighborhood. Both the Senior and Single/Couple neighborhoods consist of Efficiency, One and Two Bedroom modules. These units flank the north and south ends of the site. The family neighborhood consists of two and three bedroom modules and are oriented around a large family outdoor core.
