Envisioned as an affordable alternative, the Indian Canyon development provides a quality living environment for families making below the median income. A joint venture between Community
Dynamics and the Palm Springs Redevelopment Agency, this community uses a modern design aesthetic to fill in an underutilized land parcel near both transit and shopping. The extreme desert climate, as well as, issues of density and construction cost influenced the design. As a result, the buildings have simple straight forward massing punctuated by deeply recessed windows and sun shading devices. A significant portion of the electricity for the units will be provided from photovoltaic panels mounted on the roof.
