BEEP
At a recent 5-week A.I.A. sponsored program, 7 volunteers from KTGY were part of a group of architects at Jefferson Elementary in Santa Ana who taught students about the built environment and helped them build a city out of recycled materials that the students brought from home. Each student or team of students was assigned a building and at the end of the program the students were taught basic planning principles that they used to create their city. Built Environment Education Program (BEEP) is a program for young students sponsored by The American Institute of Architects. BEEP provides elementary school students with an awareness of the built and natural environments, architecture, urban planning and sustainability.
