The Oak Condominium portion of the Arbor Real project for DR Horton serves as development’s public face to El Camino Real in Palo Alto, California. A conversion of the old Hyatt Rickey’s Hotel site, Arbor Real replaces the outdated hotel with more than 200 single-family and condominium housing units. Decidedly contemporary in its massing and details, the Oak condominium portion mediates between the high traffic bustle of the busy street and the park-like setting of the residential neighborhood. The project preserves the existing mature trees on the site, maintaining the bucolic feel while renovating an underutilized site on a prominent corner in the city.
