Sustainability – Mike Flynn
As architects and planners, we are aware that our actions have significant long-term effects, not only on the environment but also on our client’s bottom line.
When sustainability is approached as a program element, we are able to make reasoned and balanced decisions for our clients’ benefit. Sustainability is not an afterthought; it is integrated into the design. In this way, developing green architecture is simply part of the process of good design.
Another aspect of our approach to sustainable planning and architecture is looking to the future. Understanding the impact of environmental legislation, the greening of codes, the incentives and rebates that are available, the potential effects of future trends, and where our markets are going allows us to design projects today that will retain their value in the future.
The way we look at it, if it doesn’t cost more, it adds value, and it is the right thing to do, why wouldn’t you go green?
